I will kill you before you kill me – Bernard Mornah

Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah says he will retaliate and will kill anyone who tries to kill him first.

Mr. Mornah has been summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after his comments on the compilation of the new voters register. He said “ People who are already Ghanaians are already registered are going to be taken out of the voter’s register, don’t you think confusion will come at the registration station and if confusion come there, you think the Electoral Commission (EC) will be safe, we will beat each other there, we will kill each other there if that is what the EC wants to lead the nation to”.

Speaking to JoyNews’s Kwesi Parker- Wilson on his way to the CID headquarters in Accra he said “ I choose the word resist and I’m resisting by walking from my resident to the police station is part of the resistance towards the new voters register and particularly the Electoral Commission intends to exclude nearly Eleven Million people from the voters register in my opinion is a subversion of the state. The constitution enjoin us to resist those who will subverts the state”.

Accompanied by the anti party resistance team Mr. Mornah stated clearly he will retaliate if anyone slaps him and will kill anyone who tries to kill him first. “They said they would send people to beat us, and if you send someone to beat me, I will retaliate. I will give you a slap back if you slap me okay, and if you use anything which I feel will lead to my death, I will kill you before you kill me. I have no remorse to show”.

The issue of the Compilation of the new voters register by the Electoral Commission has been a major debate among political parties and the Chairman for the People’s National Convention has expressed displeasure about the exercise.

The system of governance by the NDC and NPP is Useless and Hopeless – Hassan Ayariga

Founder of All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Hassan Ayariga says the system of governance by the two dominant party’s in Ghana (NDC and NPP) is useless and hopeless.

Speaking on Pan African Tv’s the Palaver he said “ I’m not against the NDC and NPP, I am against the system of governance of the NDC and NPP. Is a hopeless system, is a useless system of governance”.

According to Dr. Ayariga, he believes in all inclusive governance and not governance based on partisanship. “ I believe in all inclusive kind of governance where everybody is given equal opportunity to serve mother Ghana. Not because you are NDC, no but because you are a Ghanaian. Not because you are NPP but because you are qualified. Not because you are APC but because you have the certificate to do the job”.

Dr. Ayariga also made a comment on the issue of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the compilation of new voters register. “ I don’t believe at this point the issue of Covid-19 should be overlooked in terms of compiling the new voters register, but what I believe is that we do not need a new voters register” He stated.

According to Dr. Ayariga, government should put measures in place to do away with this exercise because its costly. “ Where I stand I believe we need a unique card, it could be national identification card, it could be any form of card that can be used by every Ghanaian from the day of birth when they issue you with that card, you can use it for every transaction, identification, where you are banking, voting while you attain the age of eighteen it will show you can vote. Why do we spend so much money every eight years wasting on compiling new voters register”?.

The issue of the Compilation of the new voters registration has been a major debate between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP) .
