Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseine says Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is an enigma.
This week marks exactly fifty-five years when Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown as President of Ghana in 1966. This week was marked as the Ghana day of shame.
According to Mr. Fuseini, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was a conundrum because he was labeled as someone who is despotic and undemocratic in nature and yet the key foundation of this country was put in place by him.
Speaking on Pan African TV Program Alhaji and Alhaji he said “Nkrumah is an enigma. Because you hear people talk about a person who was autocratic in nature, and had dictatorial tendencies. But you also understand and appreciate the Ghana as we have today owe the key infrastructure that we are riding on today, were put in place by Kwame Nkrumah within the short period of his stay in power”.
He indicated that, the skewed intervals between the north and the south in 1957 with regards to those in the south having many elite people, whiles the north was lacking in terms of development and education was nurtured by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah through the various policies he put in place.
“In 1957, when we attained independence, there was a partial development gap between the north and the south. The south have ellicated it’s citizens and there were many of them who have attained high education. The north was very undeveloped and it’s still undeveloped and it is still trying to catch up with southern counterparts. Nkrumah came in with a policy that was intended to bridge a development gap between the south and the north and unite us through development”. He noted.
